Practice Schedule for the Week of September 1, 2014

The Stingrays calendar has been updated to reflect the practice schedule for the week of September 1, 2014.  Please remember that the practice scheduled for Monday, September 1 has been moved to Wednesday, September 3 to allow the teammates to celebrate the Labor Day Holiday with family or friends, or maybe a little end-of-summer getaway!

Remember that practice time is now 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM.  If you're interested in learning more about the team, come to the rec center and watch a practice and see what we're all about!  Refer to the events calendar for a full list of upcoming practices and other events!

Also, new to the site you will find a poll to gauge the interest of the community and students in having swim teams in our Logan County high schools.  It only takes a moment to vote, so let your voice be heard!  We have also added a contact form on the bottom left-hand portion of all site pages; if you cannot attend a practice but have questions about joining the team, fill out the contact form and we will be happy to answer your questions; although, you may wish to read the new "Southern WV Stingrays FAQ" page, which provides the answer to many of the most common questions about swimming competitively with the Stingrays.

Hope everyone has a delightful and safe Labor Day weekend!

Stingrays updates - August 2014

The Southern West Virginia Stingrays are gearing up for another exciting season of competitive swimming!

The practice schedule for the rest of August and the first week of September has been posted on the calendar here, and the team is looking forward to it's first meet of the season in October, to be held at the Chief Logan Recreational Center and hosted by HYCAT of Charleston.

According to Coach Kristi, as her school schedule regulates, the team's practice times will become more regular.  As of right now the calendar reflects a practice time of 4:30 PM, but remember to watch email messages and Facebook group posts from her, as she may need to change practice days and times.  The start of school is a busy time for everyone, and we will all adjust to new schedules and new responsibilities together!

Also, in the coming weeks, the "Meet Results" section of the website will be updated to reflect the Summer Season's results, including the team's standings after the City Meet.

As always, if there are pictures or information that you would like to see on the website, feel free to contact Linley Marcum!

This week (July 6 - 12, 2014) the Stingrays will compete in the Summer League Championships (also known as the "City Meet") at the University of Charleston on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.

As the summer session draws to a close, the team looks forward to the start of the Fall/Winter Session, and another successful season!

Schedule for June 22 - 28, 2014

According to Coach Kristi:

Fit camp is from 9-12 pm next week, we will practice from 11:30-12:30 on Monday and Tuesday. (This will give the kids either 30 minutes to play or rest before starting swimming). The "swim" portion of camp is from 11-12, which Terry told me will basically just be pool time for the kids. On Friday we will practice at 4:30 pm because there is no fit camp. Meet warmups will begin at 5:25 at Ridgeview pool on Wednesday. Please have your swimmer there by 5:10 so they are ready to get in the water at 5:25.
See you at the pool!

***UPDATE***

Don't forget, the Stroke Analysis Clinic will take place again at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, WV on Friday, June  27 from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM.  The charge for the session will be $25.00, payable at the door.  Those who attended this past Friday's session enjoyed the clinic, learned a lot, and are looking forward to next Friday's clinic.

As such, Coach Kristi has adjusted the practice schedule to allow Stingrays members to attend the clinic in Huntington.  The third practice for the upcoming week will take place on Thursday directly following the Fit Kids Camp as outlined above.
